Course Description

Research in the department is motivated by the needs of industry, business and government; we actively look for opportunities for technology transfer. An important aspect of this is that our research work must be reflected in our teaching. We believe that collaboration in research is essential and we collaborate with industry, with government, and with other academic institutions, on a national and international level. In the most recent Research Excellence Framework (2014) assessment, it was found that 100% of the research impact was assessed as world-leading!

Additional fee information

N.B. The above fees for full-time study in 2020-2021 only. If the course is studied on a part-time basis, the tuition fees are half of the full-time fee in the first year. The tuition fee for subsequent years of the course will be subject to a slight increase in line with the fees for that academic session. Similarly if the course is interrupted for any reason.

Institute of Biological, Environmental & Earth Sciences:
For relevant research projects in agricultural or biological science based in the Institute of Biological, Environmental & Rural Sciences, it may be necessary to charge supplementary bench fees up to a maximum of £7,500 for each year of study. Whether a supplementary bench fee is levied and the extent of that fee will depend on the nature of the research being undertaken. These bench fees may be applied to research projects involving large animals or significant amounts of consumable reagents. Applicants will be advised of any such fees at the earliest stage in the offer process.
