Course Description

This course is a multi-disciplinary programme that addresses the challenges that climatic and other environmental changes pose to society. It draws on world-leading expertise in the department in both the natural and social sciences to cover a range of topics including: desertification; terrestrial carbon cycles; flooding; risk management; records of palaeo-environmental change; environmental hazards; policy response; sea-level rise and the impacts of warming and changing rainfall on ecosystem processes.

The programme comprises 180 credits. There are 120 credits of taught modules completed during Semester 1 and Semester 2. This is followed by a research dissertation (60 credits) in semester 3.

Entry Requirements / Admissions

2ii Bachelors (Honours) degree in a relevant subject area, or equivalent.  Non-graduates will be considered individually based on relevant work experience. European and International applicants can view grade equivalence on our comparability page.

English Language Requirements: If you have a Bachelor’s degree from a UK University, you do not need to take an English proficiency test. Non-native English speakers who do not meet this requirement must demonstrate that they have met the required English language entry requirement via the submissions of results from a University-recognised test of academic English language proficiency.

For students staying in student halls, costs of water, gas, electricity, wifi are generally included in the rental. Students in smaller cities where accommodation is in walking/biking distance transport costs tend to be significantly smaller.
