Course Description

On this programme, there is an emphasis on the advances in animal science, health and conservation.

Growing areas of focus within the animal‑related industries include health and welfare legislation, the economic factors affecting the sustainability of the industry and the impact of environmental change.

Worth £1 billion to the UK economy, the animal industry is constantly growing. With approximately 13,000 businesses, 78,000 employees and lots of volunteers, the animal sector encompasses a wide variety of roles with opportunities to move between them.

Understanding the biology of animals is key to their management in the wild and in captivity. This programme is designed to develop your understanding of biological, environmental and welfare needs of animals, and their surrounding environment, and how to monitor and manage systems to meet these needs. These skills are pertinent in all animal related industries. Additionally, this course enables you to explain and evaluate the contribution of Biosciences to solving interdisciplinary challenges and the role of interdisciplinary thinking in solving scientific problems.

Assessments may include; Course work, time constrained assessments, online assessment, presentations, Viva-voce and practical assessments.
