Course Description

A 'top up route' to a BSc honours degree for those who already hold a Foundation Degree, HND or equivalent qualification.

The programme is designed to develop a broad understanding and range of skills required for the animal management industry, with students able to choose options to best suit their career aspirations. These skills are pertinent in all animal-related industries and will help you focus on your future goals and skills development.

You will focus on the skills and knowledge required for effective management of a range of species; including animal health and physiology. You will learn to consider economic factors which effect the sustainability of the industry and environmental changes. You will study a wide range of animals to develop appreciation of their anatomical structure and physiological process as well as the interrelationship between the animal and their environment. Knowledge of business principles and management skills are also developed, allowing you to work effectively at a management level within a company.

This one-year course will give you the opportunity to apply your existing skills enhanced knowledge to a variety of industry relevant situations, thereby preparing for work and more advanced study. As part of the honour's pathway students will be required to undertake a research project, giving them an opportunity to focus for a prolonged period of time on a subject of particular interest with possibilities of publication.

Assessments may include; Course work, time constrained assessments, online assessment, presentations, Viva-voce and practical assessments.
