Course Description

The career coaching postgraduate course offers a unique combination of in-depth study of career management, counselling and coaching with practical training in career coaching skills. It includes the development of research skills and the academic study of behaviour at work.

This course aims to equip coaches, consultants, HR professionals and those aspiring to work in the field with the skills required for the role of career coach, coach or consultant.

This is one of the few courses in London to focus on adult career management and coaching. It attracts individuals working in a wide range of settings and organisational contexts, and provides excellent opportunities for peer learning and networking.

We offer this course as a Master’s and a Postgraduate Certificate. For the Certificate you study fewer modules and do not complete a dissertation.

MSc Career Coaching: Our MSc will enable you to coach individuals in organisations, social agencies, higher education and as an independent career coach, and to critically evaluate theory, research and practice in the fields of coaching and consultancy. You will also have the opportunity to apply for one of a limited number of placements with the Birkbeck Careers Service in your second year. Postgraduate Certificate in Career Coaching: The Postgraduate Certificate is ideal for experienced professionals looking to support their existing skills with a career coaching specialism or as a progression route onto our MSc Career Coaching.
