Course Description
Our BSc Finance with Accounting is a joint degree course which gives you the opportunity to acquire accounting skills as well as an extensive knowledge of the financial sector. This finance with accounting degree offers you a well-integrated interdisciplinary core, allowing you to obtain a broad and balanced perspective.
You will begin with basic training in principles of:
- finance
- financial reporting
- management accounting.
Following that, you will gain expertise in the fields of:
- corporate finance
- taxation
- auditing.
You will also be able to tailor your degree to your interests with a range of options in topics which may include portfolio management, behavioural economics and finance, financial markets and other accounting-related modules from the Department of Management.
Birkbeck’s BSc Finance with Accounting is suitable for anyone whose ambition is to work as a financial analyst in investment banks and other financial institutions, regulators or economic consultancies.
If you opt for the Foundation Year route, this will fully prepare you for undergraduate study. It is ideal if you are returning to study after a gap, or if you have not previously studied the relevant subjects, or if you didn't achieve the grades you need for a place on your chosen undergraduate degree.
