Course Description
The purpose of the Higher National Certificate/Diploma (HNC/D) in Social and Community Work course is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals, able to meet the demands of employers in the social and community sector and adapt to a constantly changing world. These qualifications aim to widen access to higher education and enhance the career prospects of those who undertake them.
The HNC/D qualifications in Social and Community Work are designed to address an increasing need for high quality professional and technical education pathways at Levels 4 and 5, providing students with a clear line of sight to employment or progression to further higher education study.
The HNC/D courses offer the following bespoke pathways in which a student can specialise within their field of interest, and are referenced against relevant UK National Occupational Standards for Social Work & Community Development:
Community Development Integrated Health and Social Care Social and Community Work Practice
Students will study the HNC (Level 4) course during the first year of study and upon successful completion of the HNC qualification students can progress on to the HND (Level 5) course during the second year of study. On successful completion of the HND qualification you may be eligible to progress into the second or third year of a nursing or health subject related degree at a University, enter or continue in employment, link with the appropriate professional body or commit to CPD (Continuing Professional Development).
We offer smaller class sizes enabling supportive quality teaching and allows both one to one tuition and group work. This course has a competitive fee structure with flexible entry requirements based on your experience.

The Level 3 qualification must be in an early years or health and social care related subject.
Qualification requirements
Including a relevant subject/science @ C or above (80 UCAS tariff points)
D*D in the BTEC Level 3 Diploma plus grade A in A-level mathematics. or DD in the BTEC Level 3 Diploma plus grade A* in A-level mathematics. We are committed to ensuring that all learners with the potential to succeed, regardless of their background, are encouraged to apply to study with us. The additional information gained through contextual data allows us to recognise a learner’s potential to succeed in the context of their background and experience. Applicants who are highlighted in this way will be made an offer which is lower than the typical offer for that programme. We do not accept the BTEC Extended Diploma without A-level maths. Applicants with a BTEC Extended Diploma should apply for the Engineering/Physics/Mathematics/Geophysics Foundation Year.
A minimum of DDM with the main subjects being Science or Maths. Also required: GCSE at C or above in English or English Language, Mathematics and in either Chemistry, or Physics or Dual Award Science.
BTEC Level 3 National Diploma: DD plus A Level English at grade B. Preferred:- Performing Arts, Art & Design, Digital Film and Video Production,Business IT, Applied Science,Sport, Sport and Exercise Science
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)
You are required to have a minimum of 2 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths. We will accept Level 2 equivalences for English and Maths in place of GCSEs. A Level 2 Maths qualification is desirable but not essential. We encourage applications from students who do not meet the entry requirements outlined but can demonstrate ability through work experience, portfolio of evidence or successful interview.

London costs approx 34% more than average, mainly due to rent being 67% higher than average of other cities. For students staying in student halls, costs of water, gas, electricity, wifi are generally included in the rental.
