Course Description

A number of our degrees are also offered with an additional foundation year (Year 0). Whether you are a school-leaver or someone considering returning to study but don’t have the entry requirements for your chosen subject, a foundation year course may be just what you’re looking for.

On successful completion of the Foundation Year, students will be able to:

Outline knowledge and execution of essential facts, concepts, principles and theories relating to computing design and evaluation.

Recognise individual considerations in the field of computing in relation to various societal contexts: economic, legal, social, ethical, environmental, sustainability, equality, diversity, inclusivity, health and safety, commercial, legal and policy.

Select from basic strategies and software tools to document/develop a computing problem in a systematic fashion and communicate solutions succinctly.

Identify transferable skills for employment applied to a wide range of employment situations.

Demonstrate effective communication, using discipline-specific vocabulary accurately to discuss ideas clearly, handling spelling, punctuation, grammar and numeracy accurately. 

Foundation Year entry:

A Levels: DDE; OR BTEC: MPP; OR ACCESS: Pass 45 Credits; OR 64 UCAS points minimum.

Those without formal qualifications may be considered on an individual basis. Those who do not meet the above qualification criteria, will be required to pass a formal interview conducted by UKMC. The interview process will be documented, and evidence of the decision shared with CCCU.

About Canterbury Christ Church University

Founded in 1962, Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) has two campuses for Undergraduates, with one being located in the urban setting of the town of Canterbury, Kent and the other in Medway.
