Course Description

Situated at the heart of a World Heritage Site, this MA lets you study the History, Literature, and Theology of the period roughly c. 1066-1800, or from the Norman Conquest to the the Age of Revolutions.

You'll be able to choose from a range of modules taught by the leading experts in their field, design your own short courses, receive training in research skills, run your own reading group together with classmates, undertake graduate work placements, and complete a Masters dissertation. This MA is excellent preparation for your future in graduate-level employment, or for further study at the PhD level.

You'll join a vibrant and supportive postgraduate community, where you can participate in and present at workshops, seminars, and conferences.

The Taught MA in Medieval and Early Modern Studies at Canterbury Christ Church University offers you the opportunity to study the Archaeology, Literature, History and Theology & Religion of these periods in a World Heritage site.

Grading & Study Time

Assessment is mainly by a range of written coursework including essays and a 15,000-word dissertation. There are some exams for certain modules, e.g. Latin.

Founded in 1962, Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) has two campuses for Undergraduates, with one being located in the urban setting of the town of Canterbury, Kent and the other in Medway.
