Course Description

This cyber security course is designed to train tomorrow’s security professionals, combining fundamental concepts and principles with exposure to new technologies and solutions.

Students will gain a practical understanding of key issues relating to the design, analysis and implementation of modern IT security systems. The course will develop students’ ability to recognise the legal, social, ethical and professional issues involved in the exploitation of Cyber Security technology and be guided by the adoption of appropriate professional, ethical and legal practices.

The course is designed to meet industry needs/job market demands, and produce graduates who are informed and suitably equipped to meet the needs of the industry. Students who study for this cyber security degree will:

  • build the skills needed to tackle modern secure systems
  • develop an appreciation of commercial and open-source cyber security equipment, software and services
  • learn management and applications central to cyber security issues
  • develop interpersonal skills and business acumen.

A mix of practical and written assessments. Assessments can also be in the form of presentations, portfolios, in-class tests and examinations.

Mature applicants (aged 21+): If you do not hold the qualifications listed but have relevant work experience, you are welcome to apply. Your application will be considered on an individual basis.

Additional fee information

Students have access to a wide range of resources including textbooks, publications, and computers in the College library and via online resources. In most cases they are more than sufficient to complete a course of study. Where there are additional costs, either obligatory or optional, these are detailed on the College website (on individual course pages). Of course students may choose to purchase their own additional personal resources/tools over and above those listed to support their studies at their own expense. All stationery and printing costs are at a student’s own expense.

EU students who have settled or pre-settled status in the UK under the EU Settlement Scheme, may be eligible for student finance and be designated as a home student for fees purposes. Irish nationals are eligible for support under the Common Travel Area arrangement.

London costs approx 34% more than average, mainly due to rent being 67% higher than average of other cities. For students staying in student halls, costs of water, gas, electricity, wifi are generally included in the rental. Students in smaller cities where accommodation is in walking/biking distance transport costs tend to be significantly smaller.
