Course Description
By combining Welsh and English Literature, you will gain a wealth of knowledge and transferable skills, opening doors to a variety of career paths. The joint honors degree offers the opportunity to follow a course of study at a higher level, dividing your modules between Welsh and English Literature.
The Welsh language course is relevant to contemporary Wales and is taught by a School that has been recognized for the quality and impact of its research. The aim of the course is to produce graduates who have a thorough understanding (academicly and practically) of the Welsh language, its literature and culture, a high level of oral and written linguistic skills, and developed employability and creative skills which relevant to modern Wales.
The English Literature curriculum offers access to the entire range of English literature, from the Anglo-Saxon period up to the twenty-first century. But the curriculum is not limited to the printed word - as the connections between literature and film, art, music, history, language and popular culture excite our curiosity, and it teaches us to reflect those interests. Although the English Literature course does not include any compulsory modules, you will gain experience of a wide range of literary texts, periods, movements and genres.
As a joint honors student, you will find that there are often areas and perspectives that connect subjects, whether it is critical analysis, historical contexts or academic methods.
