Course Description
By combining Welsh and English, you will gain a wealth of knowledge and transferable skills, opening doors to a variety of career paths. The joint honors degree gives you the opportunity to specialize in two subjects and you will find that they often share issues and perspectives.
The Welsh language course is relevant to contemporary Wales and is taught by a School that has been recognized for the quality and impact of its research. The aim of the course is to produce graduates who have a thorough understanding (academicly and practically) of the Welsh language, its literature and culture, a high level of oral and written linguistic skills, and developed employability and creative skills which relevant to modern Wales.
The English course begins with a solid foundation in the analysis of the language. You will study traditional areas such as phonetics and grammar, but you will also learn how to analyze language in contemporary media. While equipping you with the technical skills, we will also expect you to tackle exciting theories to interpret communication in a meaningful way.
As a joint honors student, you will find that there are often areas and perspectives that connect subjects, whether it is critical analysis, historical contexts or recent research. You will be able to discover similarities between the Welsh Language and the English Language and investigate them, together with gaining a unique perspective on these two areas of study.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)
