Course Description

Are you a passionate Early Years Professional looking to extend your knowledge and expertise to degree level whilst also working in the Early Years sector too? Our employment related degree combines theory and practice that directly links to your professional working role. Your degree experience combines teaching and learning that consist of lectures, work based learning, workshops, seminars, discussion groups, action planning, self assessment and independent study. In addition, as the Degree is run in collaboration with the University of Chichester, you will be invited to attend a collaborative lecturer at the University.

Assessment on the Foundation Degree is based on a number of different formats including portfolio, case study, coursework presentations and written essays.

You will be studying 6 modules at level 4 and 6 modules at level 5: Currently the Foundation Degree is being re-validated to ensure the course content is relevant to the the Early Years' Sector and therefore the modules below may change in content.

Level 4 Modules in Year One may include: Introduction to Early years Child Development in Early Years Children’s Rights Play, Creativity and Expressive Arts Reflective practitioner: Babies, Toddlers and Pre-school Safeguarding and integrated working in the Early Years

Level 5 Modules in Year Two may include: Understanding Children’s Behaviour Curricula around the World in the Early Years Working with families in the Early years Importance of Research in the Early Years Childhood in crisis: Global Perspectives SEND in Early Years

As a student of Crawley College, you will have access to all of our services, which includes study support, the Students' Union and our library's online resources. In addition, you will be able to access the library services and online support from the University too.

Entry Requirements / Admissions

Minimum Required UCAS Tariff

A typical offer would be 3 D grades at GCE A Level 3 with at least a D grade (24 Tariff points) in a relevant subject. All students complete an Interview. A typical offer will include a relevant discipline, applicants will be able to demonstrate their understanding of the subject.

Qualification requirements

Including a relevant subject/science @ C or above (80 UCAS tariff points)

M in T Level Health, Healthcare Science, or Science.

Scottish Higher qualifications are considered on an individual basis

Access to HE Diploma

31-30 overall or 665-655 in 3 HL subjects.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

All students complete an Interview. Mature candidates over 21 years of age with relevant industry experience will be considered. Applications need to demonstrate a sound academic background in English and Maths ideally having achieved GCSE grade C/4.
