Horticulture is increasingly concerned with improving peoples' lives, whether that's in supporting the environment, contributing to societal well-being or managing sustainable food production. Horticulture and Management HNC is a challenging course which has been designed to provide you with both the knowledge, technical skills and behaviours to enter the industry at a managerial level. Horticulture is a vibrant and exciting £24 billion industry with excellent opportunities in a range of careers such as plant science, garden design and crop production. There is a recognised skills gap for people with higher-level qualifications in this Industry.

You will be taught at the beautiful Brinsbury College Campus with professional support from our highly experienced and industry qualified tutors. You will experience a differentiated approach to your studies including, a blend of lectures, guest speakers, seminars, case studies as well as individual and group work.

The Horticulture and Management HNC comprises of 8 modules and they are: Principles of Botany Business and the Business Environment Plant Identification and Classification Plant and Soil Science Managing a Successful Project Principles of Crop Production Plant and Crop Nutrition Teaching in a Specialist Subject

What You Will Learn

Programme content: As a student of Horticulture Management, HNC you will study the following course modules.

Modules

Assessment methods include range of coursework assessments such as essays, reports, portfolios, performance, presentations, as well as written examinations and a final year major project. The grades from formal assessments count towards your unit mark. The balance of assessment by examination and assessment by coursework depends on your course choices.

All students complete an Audition/Interview. A typical offer of either a combination of GCE A levels/Level 3 Diploma or an Extended Diploma at overall Merit. GCSE Mathematics and English Language are preferred at grade C or above.
