Course Description

Plants are fundamental to life on Earth. They are the source of the oxygen we breathe, the drugs that we develop and the food that we eat. It is, then, a major area of biology. This degree encompasses plant diversity, structure, evolution, taxonomy and physiology and will provide you with a solid theoretical grounding in the subject while building your practical expertise using relevant technology. Appealing to those with a passion for the subject, you will study recent advances, hone your biological research skills and undertake extensive practical and fieldwork activities that will prepare you for a future career in this branch of science.

Assessment is through a mixture of coursework and examinations tailored to suit the knowledge and skills required for each module. Preferably to include Biology or a related subject, such as Chemistry, Environmental Science or Geography. Other subjects will be considered if you have demonstrable interest or experience in plant science. Plus GCSE Mathematics at Grade C or Grade 4 or above (or equivalent).

A minimum of five subjects at Grade H1-H3 will be required.

As long as you have a minimum of two A Levels (or equivalent), there is no maximum number of qualifications that we will accept UCAS points from. This includes additional qualifications such as the Welsh Baccalaureate and Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), AS Levels that haven’t been continued to A Level, and General Studies AS or A Level awards.
