Course Description

Reasons to choose Kingston – You will develop the core competencies required of a Chartered Quantity Surveyor. – You will have the opportunity to participate in a field trip to a major national/international destination (students may be required to cover additional costs such as travel). – There is a focus on the EU and UK legal framework relating to construction, sustainable construction technology and project management.

About this course Whatever your first degree, this course will help you apply your skills and abilities to the quantity surveying profession. Through project and team work, you will develop knowledge and understanding of procurement, construction contracts, construction economics and cost planning. You will also be trained in research methodology. Through a dissertation (research project), you will be able to focus on an area of interest, gaining valuable research skills. You will develop a range of professional skills to prepare you for your career, including problem solving and organisation, data collation, review and synopsis, time management and computing.

Career opportunities Graduates have progressed to roles in organisations such as Mace, Laing O’Rourke, Trabur, Transport for London, Willmott Dixon and Wates.

Assessment typically comprises exams (eg test or exam), practical (eg presentations, performance) and coursework (eg essays, reports, self-assessment, portfolios, dissertation).

For students staying in student halls, costs of water, gas, electricity, wifi are generally included in the rental. About Kingston University

Founded in 1899, Kingston University is located in the suburban town of Kingston upon Thames, London. The university’s four campuses can be found in and around the town centre, with a free shuttle bus helping students to get there. This university offers what they call Flexi-stay accommodation, which allows students to book rooms in their residence halls for periods in which they expect to be studying exceptionally hard.
