Course Description
Human Biology Human Biology is an ever-evolving branch of science that includes the study of the human body, the changes that occur in disease, and the interaction between humans and their environment. With this in mind, the Human Biology curriculum has been designed to provide a contemporary and dynamic programme designed to challenge students across a broad base, but with depth in areas of staff specialisms.
The curriculum includes the foundation disciplines of anatomy, cellular biology, molecular biology, physiology and metabolism. These will be delivered in the context of contemporary health issues including aging, obesity, cancer, infectious and non-communicative chronic diseases. Students will benefit from the input of research active scientists from across the range of disciplines within the School of Health Sciences. This will support the development of an integrated, innovative and applied programme of study that is the cornerstone of the curriculum of the School of Health Sciences. Graduates will leave the programme with a fully rounded skill set and with experience in a wide range of standard and specialist lab techniques. Graduates will gain experience, competence and confidence through small group learning, giving specialist and transferable skills, allowing them to succeed in a competitive and demanding employment market.
Musical Theatre The growth in importance and popularity of Musical Theatre in the last few years is staggering – being of significant importance to the economies of most of the UKs major cities. This trend of increasing revenue, performances and size of audiences continues to grow year-on-year and has significant impact on a regional, national and global level.
This new programme will allow the study of Musical Theatre from a performative, compositional as well as directorial/production vantage points.
On this course you will study the creative, conceptual interactions that exist between words, music and movement, underpinning the threefold performative relationships between music, dance and acting that communicate and express the art form.
This course will allow you to develop your:
• performative skills across dance, singing and acting • ability to analyse past works of Musical Theatre • capacity to compose an original piece of Musical Theatre • techniques of direction and producing works of Musical Theatre • knowledge of the business management of Musical Theatre.

About Liverpool Hope University
Liverpool Hope University, also known as Hope, was founded in 1844 on the outskirts of Liverpool. Hope is formally affiliated with the Christian-Ecumenical religion, and provides spaces to practice your faith, including the EDEN building and Hope Chapel. Applicants can expect to find 12 research centres here, 2 modern libraries with knowledgeable librarian staff, and all of the on-site amenities you would expect as a student.
