Course Description

This is a four year degree taught at our Hope Park campus. The Foundation Year aims to develop your skills so that after a year, you will be equipped with the necessary skills needed for studying the full BA Hons degree programme.

Please note that Combined Honours degrees at Liverpool Hope University are split 50/50. This means both subjects will be studied equally.

Mathematics Mathematics is a fascinating and exciting subject. It is the language of modern Business and Commerce, Engineering, Science and Technology and is as old as mankind. As the universal language of science it is the best tool we have to describe reality. At Liverpool Hope, you will develop a passion and enthusiasm for mathematics and its applications. Mathematics encompasses many analytical and numerical methods that are used to solve scientific and industrial problems.

Mathematics at Liverpool Hope has been designed to help you develop strong analytical and numerate abilities and skills so that you learn how to look at problems, break them down into simpler questions and then solve them. Mathematics at Liverpool Hope can be taken as a single honours degree or a combined honours degree with a related subject.

The degree will cover all areas of mathematics including pure mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics. By the end of the degree, you will be confident in tackling real world problems mathematically. By studying with us, you can expect to be given not only first class tuition and teaching, but first class support. We pride ourselves on providing an excellent student experience, and the tutors at Liverpool Hope work hard to ensure that you get the most from your degree.

Media & Communication If you want an exciting career in the media but also want to understand how and why the media reports and represents the world in the ways it does, studying at Hope is the next step for you. Media and Communication provides you with an opportunity to closely study and analyse the ways in which the media industry shapes and is shaped by our world. Our degrees (Combined and Single Honours) are designed to help you become an industry leader who is equipped to take on the critical task of ensuring a more reliable, trustworthy media industry, and to work as a cross-platform media practitioner.

If you choose to take Single Honours Media and Communication, you explore the history and theory of film and other visual media, such as photography and animation, and the cultural and creative contexts in which they are produced and consumed. We also think one of the best ways to study creativity is by making things, so you have the opportunity to make films (drama, documentary or animation), produce photographic portfolios, work in a studio and write screenplays. Our curriculum is taught by lecturers with a reputation for international research and by a practitioner who has made BAFTA and EMMY award winning programmes and animated films.

Media and Communication at Liverpool Hope is underpinned by the notion of interrogating power. We believe that the media must always be held to account and has a responsibility to pursue social justice. Whether it be through journalism, digital and social media theory and applied skills, our aim is to produce graduates who will make a better world.
