Course Description

This course is primarily designed for high-calibre international students who have not studied the pre-requisite subjects needed for first year entry or those that have successfully completed 12 years of school education, and need an extra year of study.

Completing a foundation year will enable you to progress onto the first year of Product Design Engineering degree course, provided the relevant progression criteria are met.

Our international foundation course is taught in-house by university staff, including specialist foundation teaching staff. As a student on the course you will be a full member of the University, with the same access to the Students’ Union, clubs, societies, sports facilities and support departments.

Special emphasis is placed on subject-specific tuition to prepare students for their chosen degree course, as well as developing the study skills needed for success in an independent learning environment.

As a student on the International Foundation Programme you will receive high quality teaching from renowned Loughborough University academics and be supported throughout your studies by an academic tutor.

Language modules will build your confidence with the English language. In addition, you will benefit from our university Library, IT services, Mathematics Learning Support Centre and wide range of health and welfare services, including tailored support for international students.

Completing a foundation year can be a real attribute to your overall degree success. It not only opens doors to courses that may have previously looked closed, but also provides a sound base on which to establish a successful academic career.
