Course Description

Overview BSc Environmental Health degree is professional programme which is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) and will prepare you to work as an environmental health professional in the UK. This programme covers a wide range of areas including public health, food safety, environmental protection, private sector housing improvement and occupational health and safety

Why study BSc Environmental Health at Middlesex University? Our BSc Environmental Health is designed to provide education to those wishing to enter the environmental health profession which upholds healthy environments and protects public health. Through your studies you will explore the relationship between professional, domestic and leisure environments and how they impact on the health and well-being of individuals and societies. You will gain the knowledge and skills to assess and apply effective solutions to improve environmental health in a variety of settings. Upon graduation, you will be prepared to enter careers in both the public and private sectors and you will be confident in evaluating the legal and social framework within which environmental health operates.

Completion of the BSc Environmental Health and subsequent completion of the CIEH Learning Portfolio and Professional Interview will enable you to gain a Certificate of Registration from the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) and be qualified as an Environmental Health Officer.

We offer specialist teaching and learning spaces for environmental health, including a food inspection laboratory and a Grade 2 microbiology laboratory Small class sizes allow for deeper discussion and personal attention which can enable you to thrive in your studies Guest lecturers are invited to speak on areas of emerging importance and we work with the London Food Markets to teach you about practical food inspection You will be taught by environmental health practitioners with experience in key areas such as food safety, health and safety, and private sector housing As a student of this course you'll receive a free electronic textbook for every module.

Accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) for the purpose of partially meeting the requirements for registration as an Environmental Health Practitioner with the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB).
