Course Description

This National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) accredited course reflects the digital technologies which are central to succeed in today’s magazine industry. You’ll be taught how to produce news, features and stories for online, print and social media. You will have the opportunity to produce a magazine yourself in our award-winning Centre for Broadcasting and Journalism. The course is dedicated to offering specialist training to equip students with the well-rounded skills which are needed for this industry.

You’ll learn how to write news, features, blogs and content for social media and create pieces of work for analysis. Alongside this you’ll learn media law, public administration and journalism ethics and you’ll also get the opportunity to develop your shorthand skills to the NCTJ standard. You'll develop an all-round understanding of the wider publishing business, and get to grips with mobile journalism in order to compete in an increasingly digital market. There will be ongoing opportunities to develop features with local publications such as the Nottingham Post as well as three weeks of placements in any relevant organisation you choose, helping you to launch your career as a journalism professional.
