Course Description

A distinguishing feature of this course is its practical and applied motorsport emphasis, which it derives from industries local to the University and the expertise of the staff. Graduates of the course should be able to work effectively in industry as part of design, development or research teams with the skills necessary to turn concepts into drawings and through to the manufacturing and assembly processes. Bridgwater College has a championship winning race team that has competed at Castle Combe, and in the BRSCC OSS championship with our Radical PR6. Industry links include Xtrac, Williams, Force India and other related motorsport engineering companies. Brooklands College have successfully competed at race circuits up and down the country - bringing home a number of trophies. They are currently competing in the Formula Vee 750 series and BTRDA Rally Cross Production Class. Their links within the motorsport industry include McLaren, West Surrey Racing and Gordon Murray Designs.

The accredited BEng (Hons) will meet, in part, the exemplifying academic benchmark requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer and Students will need to complete an approved format of further learning pursuant to the requirements of UKSPEC. The accredited BEng (Hons) will also automatically meet in full, the exemplifying academic benchmark requirements for registration as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng).

Accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as an Incorporated Engineer.

Foundation Degree (Engineering) in Motorsport Engineering from Brooklands or Bridgwater College. Foundation Degrees from other Universities or Colleges will be admitted if their modules are equivalent.
