Course Description
PGCert Future Landscape Architecture offers a professional path into Landscape Architecture for graduates with diverse subject backgrounds. The course is a transferal route from non-LI accredited BA/BSc graduates onto MSc Future Urbanism.
Landscape Institute Professional Accreditation The PGCert Future Landscape Architecture offers a route onto the MSc Future Urbanism accredited by the Landscape Institute (candidate status 2021-22), the Royal chartered professional body for landscape architects in the UK.
PGCert Future Landscape Architecture prepares entrants with varying skill levels to a baseline cognisant with Landscape Institute accreditation, allowing graduates from non-LI accredited courses to complete preparatory modules before entering the MSc programme.
The PGCert offers an entry-route to MSc Future Urbanism.
Future Urbanism explores, defines and designs the nature of 21st century urbanism. Reimagining the idea of the urban in a digitally infused, spatially attenuated age facing a climate emergency.
Two core modules address contemporary and future aspects of landscape architecture through developing design thinking in fundamental landscape approaches, professional development and visual communication.
Professional Context: Design + Communication: 30 CAT
This module surveys historic urban and natural precedent and the emergence of professional approaches to city/landscape design including acquisition of skills to effectively communicate design research ideas in a range of media.
Professional Context: Built Technologies + Natural Systems: 30 CAT
This module surveys and demonstrates the essentials in analysing, engaging with and framing living systems including plant based dynamic systems and built technologies that are part of our cities.
Entry Requirements / Admissions

Normally a 2.1 Honours degree or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the University in any design engaged discipline by agreement with the School of Natural and Built Environment. A 2.2 Honours degree or equivalent qualification acceptable to the University in any design engaged discipline by agreement with the School of Natural and Built Environment may be considered alongside a strong design portfolio on a case by case basis. Relevant professional experience alongside a strong design portfolio may be considered on a case by case basis. All applicants must submit a digital Portfolio of Work in PDF format; 15 pages maximum length, 5MB maximum file size.
