Course Description

The MMus degree is intended for students who are seeking an extended and thorough professional grounding at Masters level in their chosen area of specialism. This is a two-year full-time programme, leading to 240 SCQF credits at level 11 (120 ECTS credits).

As a student on the MMus/MA Repetiteurship programme, you will work and study as part of the internationally reputable Alexander Gibson Opera School. In your studies you will work regularly with staff from the Alexander Opera School, who have considerable professional experience both nationally and internationally.

The programme will give you the opportunity to learn and study all of the core and related skill sets; piano lessons, languages, coaching, continuo playing, style, repertoire and conducting. A large part of your training will be in practical sessions, playing for classes, opera scenes rehearsals, full productions and, where appropriate, conducting.

Previous students who have studied this discipline at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland have gone on to study and work at the highest level including at the National Opera Studio, the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House, Scottish Opera, English National Opera, Opera North, Dortmund, Darmstadt and the Amsterdam Opera Studio.

Please note, the international deadline for this programme is the 1st December 2023, but we would encourage applicants to apply by the 2nd October 2023 to be guaranteed consideration for the first round of scholarship.
