How you learn:

All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive.

You’ll learn through a blended learning approach combining tutor-directed study and student-led exercises and activities. You’ll be taught by tutors who have real-world experience in different sectors of business.

Applied learning

Work placements

In year three you’ll have the opportunity to apply the skills you've gained by taking a one-year paid work placement. It’s a great way to improve your industry knowledge with real insight and experience, and to build an eye-catching CV to impress future employers.

Due to our strong relationships with regional, national and international employers, we can help you secure a great placement opportunity and support you while you’re there. You may also have the opportunity to spend a semester at a European university and undertake a 12-month work placement abroad – with the possibility of funding through the Erasmus programme (until 2023) or the Turing Scheme.

Live projects

You’ll experience work-based projects in each year of your course to prepare you for graduate-level employment. These will be a mixture of live client briefs and short placements. You can also pursue your own business initiative, subject to approval.

Networking opportunities

Prepare for your career through the student Marketing Society, which you gain automatic membership to as a new student. This also gives you access to the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and local branch masterclasses and activities.

We’re one of the few universities in the UK to have a student society linked to the CIM. This is a student learning community that complements and enhances your academic studies, and allows you to link up with local professionals. CIM is the leading professional body for marketers worldwide and exists to develop the marketing profession, maintain professional standards and improve the skills of marketing practitioners.

We’ve also joined forces with CIM to give you the chance to gain professional qualifications through the CIM Graduate Gateway. CIM qualifications are highly sought after by employers, and map alongside our own degrees, which ensures we’re equipping you with the best opportunities for a successful marketing career.
