On this course, you'll gain a firm handle on data analytics and its role in banking and finance. You'll access real company live data, work with Bloomberg terminals, use cutting-edge software and get excellent real-world experience. The course is designed with industry input, so you're able to hit the ground running as soon as you graduate.
How you learn
This course explores the application of data analytics in financial industries. You’ll work with contemporary platforms including cutting-edge SAS analytics software and Bloomberg financial terminals.
In the business part of the course, you will examine and scrutinise the fundamental concepts of banking, finance and investment.
You will also learn technical skills associated with data analytics and apply these skills in the context of financial industries.

This course is delivered face-to-face over three semesters - teaching is scheduled based on the length of your course and the academic calendar.
Applied learning - Live projects
You will have the opportunity to go on a work placement for up to 12 months, starting during the summer of your second year. You can apply for the placement route by selecting the two-year course length.
Live projects
You will examine real-world case studies and data, as well as work on live or simulated industry projects. You will apply the skills and knowledge you gained in your technical and business modules to complex projects in the context of the financial industries.

English language requirements

Undergraduate degree academic qualification with classification of 2:2 or equivalent in Computing, Computer Science, Maths or Statistics, Data Analytics, Data Science or other relevant areas, or appropriate work experience.
Applicants who have acquired significant knowledge and skills in data analytics, database design and development using industry standard platforms and development environments or significant experience in financial technologies would be considered for admission.
If you are an International or non-UK European student, you need an IELTS score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in all skills, or equivalent.
