Course summary

  • Develop skills in creating and managing effective learning environments.

  • Learn how to design effective assessment and feedback processes.

  • Gain an understanding of theories and models underpinning pedagogical practice in higher education learning, teaching and assessment.

  • Complete the postgraduate certificate and gain Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).

This course is aimed towards both experienced and newly appointed higher education academic staff. Studying part-time, with flexible start dates to fit around your other commitments, you'll develop an informed, reflective and self-critical approach to learning, teaching and assessment, enhancing your skills as a practitioner in higher education.

How you learn We focus on learning from each other, across subjects, as well as helping you to develop your knowledge of teaching and learning in your subject specialist area by establishing subject support groups and exploring subject specialist pedagogies. The course is practice-orientated and gives emphasis to your interests and career aspirations.

Founded in 1969, Sheffield Hallam University is located in the city of Sheffield, in the Yorkshire and the Humber region of England.
