Course Description

This 2 year HND course has 2 pathways available:

  • Public Health and Health Promotion (Pathway one)

  • Integrated Health and Social Care (Pathway two)

This full time course includes 450 hours work placement across the 2 years. (2 placements for Pathway one and 1 placement for Pathway two) The course includes both mandatory and optional units. Examples of some of the units are detailed below:

  • Law, Policy and Ethical Practice in Health and Social Care
  • Demonstrating Professional Principles and Values in Health and Social Care Practice
  • Supporting the Individual Journey through Integrated Health and Social Care
  • Fundamentals of Evidence-based Practice (Integrated health pathway)
  • Effective Reporting and Record-keeping in Health and Social Care Services (Integrated health pathway)
  • Health Education in Action (Public Health and Health Promotion pathway)
  • Addressing Health Inequalities (Public Health and Health Promotion pathway)

Entry Requirements / Admissions

Minimum Required UCAS Tariff

You must be 18 years of age or over and possess one of the following: BTEC National Certificate/Diploma in Care/Health Studies. AVCE/Advanced S/NVQ Level 3 in appropriate vocational area. A Level with four passes (A*-C) at GCSE including Maths and English or equivalent level 2 An Access to Higher Education qualification Have at least 32 UCAS points Applications are also welcome from mature students with relevant work experience. You will also need to gain DBS Clearance.

Qualification requirements

Including a relevant subject/science @ C or above (80 UCAS tariff points)

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

GCSE including Maths and English or equivalent level 2. Applications are also welcome from mature students with relevant work experience. You will also need to gain DBS Clearance.
