Course Description

Zoology involves the study of animal anatomy, evolution, ecology and physiology - helping us understand animal behaviour and identify ways to improve animal welfare. This course gives our students an unrivalled opportunity to study modules in a range of natural environments including the Gower Peninsula. With its diverse habitats and an array of wildlife species including adders, otters and orchids, Gower is a uniquely rich site for students to study. You will spend the third of your four years at one of our partner institutions abroad.

Our Biosciences facilities include:

A £1.3m Visualisation Centre, a £1.6m purpose-built 18m catamaran-class survey vessel equipped with state-of-the-art survey and research equipment based on Swansea Marina, a £4.2m science laboratory facility and a centre for sustainable aquatic research.

The BSc Zoology course is also accredited by the Royal Society of Biology.

About Swansea University

Swansea University was established in 1920 and is located in the large city of Swansea, in Wales. There are two campuses, the flagship campus is located between Singleton Park, with its green parkland and botanical gardens, and Swansea Bay beach. The more recent Bay Campus on the other hand is located on an extensive beachfront property on the eastern side of town, past the marina.
