Course overview: This top-up degree is ideal if you are currently qualified to QCF Level 5 (foundation degree, HND or equivalent) in an electrical, electronic or communications subject and you wish to qualify at degree level and use this as a stepping stone to a master's course or to enhance your career prospects. Course details: The course covers a broad spectrum of engineering topics and deepens your knowledge of subject areas previously studied as part of your HND, foundation degree or equivalent. You gain a rounded knowledge and understanding of electrical and electronic systems and drives. The design and project modules allow you to solve complex multi-disciplinary engineering design and implementation problems. After the course: Work opportunities exist in industries which include aerospace, communications, power generation and transmission, manufacturing and process, research and development and many others. If you successfully complete this degree with at least 2.2 honours you can apply for one of several MSc programmes for further study.

Successful completion of a Higher National Diploma, or equivalent, in an appropriate subject. Conditions on units studied may apply.

Qualification requirements

Acceptable qualifications for this top-up degree are Level 5 HND with 4 Merits at Level 5. Foundation Degree or overseas Diploma in a closely related subject. Overseas students must offer IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in each band.
