Course Description
On MA Latin Studies, you will study Latin language and literature, along with courses that place Latin in its wider context.
Latin was the language of the most powerful and durable empire of the classical world. It remained the principal language of scholarship, record and literature in western Europe for more than a thousand years thereafter.
On this programme you will:

receive an advanced and robust training in Latin

read a broad selection of works of classical literature in their original language

have the opportunity to read texts from the late republic and early empire down to Late Antiquity and the medieval period in various contexts, including historical, religious, intellectual
You will also be able to take courses on the history and culture of the Roman and Latin-speaking world.

England/Wales/N Ireland The Rest of UK RUK rate is yet to be confirmed and was £9,250 for 2021 entry. For 2022 entry this may increase in line with inflation and will be subject to government limits.
EU On 9th July 2020 the decision was made by the Scottish Government to end free university tuition for European Union EU students starting in 2021-22. Funding policy for EU nationals and associated groups starting a course of study in academic year 2022-23 or later will be in line with international fees.

London costs approx 34% more than average, mainly due to rent being 67% higher than average of other cities. For students staying in student halls, costs of water, gas, electricity, wifi are generally included in the rental. Students in smaller cities where accommodation is in walking/biking distance transport costs tend to be significantly smaller.
