Course Description
The Master of Laws (General) is designed for those who desire flexibility in the choice of modules and dissertation topic while studying. The programme design means that you can choose modules based on the criteria most important to you. Whether you have a particular career goal in mind, or are studying for pure enjoyment, the Master of Laws (General) programme allows you maximum control over your degree.

You’ll have the chance to select four elective modules that interest you, as well as complete a dissertation that allows you to explore an area linked to one of your elective module subject areas through independent research. You’ll learn practical legal skills in analysis and critical evaluation, alongside a range of transferable skills such as research and presentation skills.
Our flexibly structured course is delivered by qualified lawyers and research and teaching focused academics, bringing their expertise and experience into the classroom to provide you with the real-world insight that can help prepare you for the practical application of the law.
In addition to a general induction to the programme, there is a two-week induction covering the Key Principles of the English Legal System. This is compulsory for non-law students, but also open to law students wanting a refresher in the fundamentals of the law of England and Wales. This would be useful for any student who has taken a considerable break from legal education.
Please note that, due to Home Office regulations, students who require a Tier 4 visa to study with us are not permitted to study online and can only choose face-to-face taught modules.

London costs approx 34% more than average, mainly due to rent being 67% higher than average of other cities. For students staying in student halls, costs of water, gas, electricity, wifi are generally included in the rental. Students in smaller cities where accommodation is in walking/biking distance transport costs tend to be significantly smaller.
About The University of Law
The University of Law is a private institution located in the town of Guildford, in South East England. It was founded in 1962 as The College of Law of England and Wales but changed its name when it received university status in 2012. This institution imparts courses and degrees in the disciplines of: Law, Business, Policing, Criminology, and Politics. The University of Law also offers international students the option of a specialised one-year foundation programme, which serves as a segue to undergraduate legal education in the United Kingdom.
