Students may enter our graduate programme in Statistics by initially taking our taught MSc course over 1 year. This, subject to satisfactory progress, can lead to admission to the PhD programme.

Applicants would usually be expected to have a 1st or upper 2nd class Honours Bachelor degree and an MSc degree with Merit or Distinction (or an equivalent overseas qualification) in a mathematical subject. In some research areas a background in physics, engineering or computer science is also acceptable.

London costs approx 34% more than average, mainly due to rent being 67% higher than average of other cities. For students staying in student halls, costs of water, gas, electricity, wifi are generally included in the rental. Students in smaller cities where accommodation is in walking/biking distance transport costs tend to be significantly smaller.
