Biomedical Science is at the forefront of our modern healthcare system working in partnership with medical practitioners and health care professionals, to perform many different roles in the NHS, as well as in academia and the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors. As a biomedical science graduate you are likely to be involved in the diagnosis of disease, supporting the work of clinical departments, and developing and evaluating the next generation of treatments that could improve patient outcomes. A biomedical science degree also provides the foundation for graduate entry programmes, including medicine, dentistry or the more recently established Physician Associate (PA) programme for clinical practice within the NHS.

Our BSc Biomedical Science programme has been accredited by the Royal Society of Biology following an independent and rigorous assessment. Accredited degree programmes contain a solid academic foundation in biological knowledge and key skills, and prepare graduates to address the needs of employers.

The Northampton Employment Promise

• In fact, we’re so confident in our careers and employability support that if you achieve at least a 2:2 degree and complete either our Employability Plus Gold programme or achieve a Changemaker Gold Certificate during your time studying with us, but still haven’t secured full-time employment 12 months after graduating, we will secure a three – six month paid internship for you or support you into postgraduate study.

This course is accredited at advanced level by the Royal Society of Biology for the purpose of meeting in part the academic and experience requirement for the Membership and Chartered Biologist (CBiol). Graduates can apply for membership of the Royal Society of Biology at Member (MRSB) level after two years of practice, rather than the usual three years, due to the significant research experience acquired.
