Course Description

As a school, we are committed to improving and investigating social justice and equality in education. You will study in a supportive research community, with students from across the globe.

You will benefit from over 200 years of experience in the field of education. Our staff, many of whom are research active, stay abreast of the latest developments affecting educational practitioners. They also hold strong links with educational institutions and organisations locally, nationally and internationally. You will be assigned two supervisors appropriate to your field.

Education research areas include:

  • higher, adult and vocational education

  • learning sciences

  • learning through the arts, creative pedagogies and science

  • mathematics education

  • school leadership and improvement

  • teachers' work, professionalism and education policy

Entry to our postgraduate research programme is competitive and having a strong research proposal is therefore very important.

London costs approx 34% more than average, mainly due to rent being 67% higher than average of other cities. For students staying in student halls, costs of water, gas, electricity, wifi are generally included in the rental. Students in smaller cities where accommodation is in walking/biking distance transport costs tend to be significantly smaller.
