Key Course Facts

Course Description

Our Executive MBA Healthcare is an advanced management course preparing healthcare professionals for the challenges of organising and managing complex healthcare services. It is for those who want to maintain a focus on the healthcare sector while receiving a broad MBA education.

The course is designed to respond to the changing global and UK landscape by developing competitive solutions to manage the competing demands of service users, commissioners and regulators. It builds on your existing years of management skills and experience and will help to expand your global career prospects and earning potential.

The course is flexibly structured so you can combine your studies with your demanding career. You can choose how long you take to complete the programme, between two to four years, and choose from several starting points throughout the year to suit your needs. You can also vary the number of modules you take each year and spread the cost by paying for each module as you progress.

You'll study core modules covering essential areas of management including leadership, marketing, finance, and entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship education is among our foremost strengths, and you will take part in the Ingenuity process - a unique method for encouraging creative problem-solving, developed by our Haydn Green Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

You will also take two healthcare modules which are led by invited experts from the healthcare sector and academics whose research focuses specifically on healthcare management. This MBA is supported by the Centre for Health Innovation, Leadership and Learning, a leading centre for research into management and organisations in healthcare. You can also focus on your interests and career goals by choosing from specialist optional modules, covering topics including venture capital, ethics, business intelligence, and change management.

You will also complete a healthcare management project, working with a healthcare organisation to help them to resolve real business issues. This is an opportunity to put knowledge into practice, impress a potential employer, and foster good relationships from which you may benefit at a later date.

A fundamental part of your learning and development is through group work. We provide a management and interpersonal skills programme that all MBA students take part in, helping you form social networks and ease your return to academic life. Working with talented peers from different professional and cultural backgrounds will help you develop a global perspective.

The course includes many opportunities for practical experience and networking, including our international study tours (dependent upon any travel restrictions) where you’ll gain direct experience of global business through meetings with executives, company visits, and sessions with experts. Our unique connections with China and Malaysia also offer a fantastic opportunity to learn about the essentials of doing business in these countries. You’ll also visit companies in Nottingham and London as part of our Business Practice Week to learn first-hand about different types of businesses, their current challenges and how these relate to the theory you’re studying.

Your personal and professional development is an ongoing conversation throughout the MBA. You’ll be able to apply all you’ve learnt to your current role and we also offer a range of career development activities to help plan your next career move based on your individual experiences, skills, interests and aspirations. You’ll graduate with all the knowledge, practical skills and confidence you need to progress in your career.
