Course Description
The impact of digital is continually changing the way we compose, collaborate, share and showcase music. You'll explore this impact through both theory and practice.
All students get a solid grounding in key repertoire and historical contexts.
You will also get practical experience in:

- composing with digital audio workstations

- synthesis
- sampling
- sound design
- collaboration

Our staff are current performers and technicians so you'll be working to the latest industry-standards.
Build a degree that suits your interests. You can specialise in musicology, performance, composition or technology or explore widely across our diverse mix of modules. You could combine Early Music with Electroacoustic Composition or Conducting with Studio Recording.
Our facilities support your choices. We have purpose-built spaces to compose, rehearse, perform, record and experiment!
We encourage collaboration between students and joining up work across modules. There are also opportunities to get involved in staff projects.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)
BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate: D plus AB in two A Levels to include English. Preferred:- Performing Arts, Art & Design, Digital Film and Video Production,Business IT, Applied Science,Sport, Sport and Exercise Science
The Welsh Baccalaureate Skills Challenge Certificate will be accepted in lieu of one A Level at the A Level grades specified, excluding any subject specific requirements.
If Mathematics is not taken beyond GCSE, a grade 7, (or A) in GCSE Mathematics, or Core Mathematics grade B is essential
European Baccalaureate - 75% overall including 80% (8.5) in Music. Preferably to include Music but if no Music then we may also ask for a Pass in ABRSM Graded Theory Grade 5 or Trinity, Rockschool or LCM.
