Course Description
Social workers play a vital role in protecting vulnerable people, promoting human rights and helping people to make changes. As a social worker, you could be working with children, older people, carers, and people with disabilities in a role that is challenging but also incredibly rewarding.
Our BA Social Work will give you insights into human life and the world around us. You will consider topics such as social justice, equality and diversity and advocacy.
You'll learn how to communicate with service users, build effective relationships, and create reports which you may need to present in court. You'll develop skills in the classroom, through placements, and on simulated skills days.
Our course is regulated by Social Work England and prepares you to practice in both adults' and children’s services. Successful completion of the course makes you eligible to apply for registration as a social worker with Social Work England.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)
We consider the National Foundation Diploma for entry, preferably in a subject relevant to this course. Entry requirements are based on achievement of the full National Foundation Diploma with a Distinction grade, PLUS one A-level at Grade A in an essay-based arts, humanities or social science subject, PLUS an EPQ or AS at Grade B.
BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate: D plus AB in two A Levels to include English. Preferred:- Performing Arts, Art & Design, Digital Film and Video Production,Business IT, Applied Science,Sport, Sport and Exercise Science
The Welsh Baccalaureate Skills Challenge Certificate will be accepted in lieu of one A Level at the A Level grades specified, excluding any subject specific requirements.
If Mathematics is not taken beyond GCSE, a grade 7, (or A) in GCSE Mathematics, or Core Mathematics grade B is essential
GCSE requirements – English grade C (numeric grade 4) and Mathematics grade C (numeric grade 4); GCSE equivalent tests, such as Functional Skills or Adult Literacy/Numeracy qualifications cannot be accepted in lieu of GCSEs.
