Course Description

This five-year course is a big commitment. But if you’re focused on a career in aerospace the benefits are considerable. It includes a year in industry, for which you’re paid a salary, and a group project where you help design, build and fly an unmanned aerial vehicle.

Staff in the department work closely with Boeing, Airbus UK, BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce and others. You will work on a research project led by an academic. And you’ll take part in the faculty’s Global Engineering Challenge, a team exercise designed to make you a better engineer.

You graduate with an MEng, which meets all the academic requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. Graduates work in aerospace design, aviation, manufacturing, energy and other specialisms, for employers such as Airbus, BP, Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan, Rolls-Royce and the Ministry of Defence.

Accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer.

Accredited by the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer.

The accredited MEng fully meets the exemplifying academic benchmark requirements, for registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng).

Accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer.
