Course Description

As consumer appetite for sustainably made products continues to rise, our forward-thinking BA (Hons) Textiles degree course at UCA Epsom is a great choice for you to study sustainable textiles.

We're one of the few courses to teach a combination of specialist textile subjects such as natural eco dyes and printing, bio-material making and sustainable surfaces and 3D-constructed, off-loom techniques.

You will learn about colour, materials, and sustainable innovation. How to design smartly, make mindfully and with regenerative purpose. We will introduce you to industry fabricators, sourcing from sustainable suppliers, repurposing deadstock, circular production, bespoke hand craft and new digital technologies.

You’ll learn how to visualise and communicate your textile ideas for fashion, interiors, art and architecture. Creative identity, equality, diversity and inclusivity, conscious practice, industry and the business of textiles and fashion are introduced through lectures, seminars and collaborative project work.

Our graduates leave UCA with the sustainable skills needed to jump straight into exciting careers, with many future focussed graduates going on to work for household names in the textiles and fashion industry, set up their own businesses, become designer-makers, textile artists, academics, researchers, sustainable managers and change makers.
