Course Description
This programme emphasises the application of computational techniques and packages to solve complex engineering problems. It offers students a broad range of advanced subjects across the mechanical engineering disciplines in order to work in various industrial sectors. The MSc Advanced Mechanical Engineering is the latest addition to our world-class suite of engineering programmes; opening up a broader range of career opportunities in many areas of mechanical engineering and related areas, including automotive, energy, defence and manufacturing.
The programme provides mechanical engineer graduates, and graduates of related disciplines including civil, materials, chemical, aerospace engineering, with an in-depth technical understanding of advanced mechanical topics, particularly in the area of computational mechanics, mechanical response of engineering materials and reliability engineering. In addition, the programme is designed to enhance the skills of experienced engineers who have been already working in industry and equip graduates with transferable skills required for demanding employment.
This advanced Master's programme emphasises the application of computational techniques and packages to solve complex engineering problems through core courses alongside a range of optional courses and the individual research project, which you can choose depending on your career interests. The optional courses available reflect the wide range of mechanical expertise present in the School, including fire and explosion engineering, structural vibrations, project management and riser systems and hydrodynamics.
