Course Description

Develop highly relevant marketing knowledge and skills for the digital era, including social media marketing, brand management, market research and creative design using problem-based learning.

Abertay’s BSc (Hons) Marketing and Business Management is delivered within the School of Business, Law and Social Sciences.

We will learn how to understand different markets, manage customer relationships and communicate brand strategy effectively. You will develop the skills in business decision making, functions and challenges that make for highly effective managers.

This degree is predominantly about the sociological understanding of marketing (or customers) and differs from its sister programme, Digital Marketing and Business Management, which focuses more on computer-facilitated marketing.

This is a highly practical programme with employment at its heart. You will learn how businesses operate in the real world through expert guest speakers, projects tackling real-life business problems and off-site visits. You will work on projects with nationwide organisations such as the IBM Business Challenge and be encouraged to undertake a work placement and overseas study opportunity to broaden your horizons.

Marketing degrees at Abertay are inherently flexible and provide you with the ability to tailor what you study to your own interests and career aspirations. The first two years of study cover a common curriculum including the basics of business management, accounting and marketing. As you progress, you can add a subject specialism such as Events Management or change to Digital Marketing.
