Course Description

If you’re an ambitious manager working in the private, public or voluntary sectors, and want to develop your skills and engage in stimulating debate with your peers, then this course is for you.

This course will enhance your understanding of contemporary leadership theory and develop your ability to reflect on your managerial experiences enabling you to transfer learning into practice.

There are six entry points through the year. This allows you to start when it is most suitable.

  • Gain a solid foundation in the key skills and effective leadership and management.
  • Study contemporary approaches to management including aspects of accounting and finance, strategic management, operations and project management and marketing and digital futures.
  • Build upon your existing management abilities to strengthen your skills and personal performance on a course which inspires teamwork and engagement to contribute to ethical and innovative practice.
  • Benefit from our employability practice-based approach with real business that will enable you to critically evaluate and improve your own management skills to succeed in the global marketplace.

The assessment strategy for this course is designed in a way that will contribute to student development and will help them achieve their goals and enhance their employability. An essential element of this process is that feedback will be provided in due time so it is integrated in the learning process. When group work is required, the marks given will be individual following the University of Bedfordshire's regulatory scheme. The different kinds of assessment are listed below and in some cases they will be used in combination, making sure however that there are no hidden tasks. In addition to the assessment strategies followed in each Unit, student knowledge and skills will be also formatively assessed through problem solving sessions or case study discussions, in order to ensure that development of their comprehension of the underlying concepts is appropriate to the level of studies and continuously supports the overall student achievement. A full list of how each Unit will be assessed is presented in the previous section. The University's Learning Resources provide a Study Hub where you can improve your assignment grades by accessing free professional support to develop a wide range of relevant and valuable academic skills. **Three teams of specialists:** Academic Liaison Librarians, Computer Skills Trainers and Professional and Academic Development (PAD) Tutors can help you develop your academic skills and improve your assignment writing and preparation techniques; leading to better grades and enhanced employability. Learn what information you need for your assignments, how to find it and assess if it's relevant and reliable. Then use the techniques you have discovered to manage your time effectively and improve your academic writing style or your presentation skills. You will find a wide range of online guides to help you. After induction, a week of intensive direct contact time followed by students own contribution through individual learning, will take them to the first assessment point. The process will repeat and at the end of the six-week block, the final assessment will be due. This will be a demanding but very rewarding experience.

London costs approx 34% more than average, mainly due to rent being 67% higher than average of other cities. For students staying in student halls, costs of water, gas, electricity, wifi are generally included in the rental. Students in smaller cities where accommodation is in walking/biking distance transport costs tend to be significantly smaller.
