On the course we will support you to develop as a well-informed, sensitive, confident and knowledgeable practitioner. You will then be in a good position to join the national workforce of skilled and capable professionals supporting children and young adults with special educational needs, and their families. You will gain a good theoretical and research-informed grounding in the subject, and also have the opportunity to develop personally and professionally. Throughout the course we place a strong focus on real world learning. You will be offered visits at various points as part of your studies, and undertake a placement in your final year. This will give you important insights into professional practice. Careers open to you after graduation include teaching (in most cases this will require a postgraduate teaching qualification) and teaching assistance in schools, inclusion support, child and family advocacy, mentoring and adult education. You will be supported by our course team who have a national reputation for their work in the area of special educational needs and disability.
