Course Description

The MNurs programme leads to a professional nursing qualification and eligibility to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council in two Fields of Nursing.

This is a practical, patient-centred programme with equal amounts of theory and clinical practice, which enables you to experience different aspects of healthcare. The programme will give you the skills needed to provide compassionate, evidence-based care as an adult nurse or children's nurse and as a mental health nurse. You will be prepared for a career, which combines skills from both fields of nursing allowing you to work across clinical specialities. This will provide you with extensive employment opportunities to work in a variety of clinical settings and across clinical disciplines.

You will study a range of subjects that underpin nursing, the evidence base behind the role of the nurse and how nurses promote health and well-being. You will develop a wide range of practice skills during practice placements in a variety of clinical areas and your learning will be supported further through simulated practice and clinical skills teaching. Spanning the rural Yorkshire Dales to inner city districts, no other area of the UK offers the rich diversity of clinical experience available through the University and its partner Trusts.

You will be prepared to be a professional nurse ready to take on a future nursing leadership role.

Recognised by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) for the purpose of registration as a qualified nurse (child).
