Law (Health, Law and Society) LLM

This distinctive LLM programme examines how to approach some of the greatest challenges and opportunities for law and policy as mechanisms to address health and wellbeing. It looks at questions including health (and wider social) inequalities, regulation of the body, reproductive justice, social and mental health and wellbeing, and the diverse roles of social and political institutions and emerging technologies (healthtech) in shaping health, law and society. Units on the programme approach these through multiple methods of critical engagement and contextual understanding. As well more doctrinal understanding of law and governance, these include analysis from critical, economic, ethical, gender, historical, philosophical, political, and regulatory perspectives.

The Health, Law, and Society LLM therefore goes beyond traditional courses on healthcare law to look at the relationships between law, governance, and health across society and governmental sectors. Students enjoy the opportunity to study wide-ranging questions concerning the impacts of law, regulation, policy and practice on health and wellbeing.

You will be taught by academics who combine internationally recognised research profiles with wide experience within organisations responsible for policy advice and development, professional regulation, public engagement and understanding, and social advocacy.
