Course Description

This diploma is designed to support both the knowledge and practice competencies required for advanced professional training in adult clinical neuropsychology. This diploma is similar to our MSc in Clinical Neuropsychology, however it allows you to bring forward learning and case experience from your DClinPsy (for collaborating institutions, see the School of Psychological Science website) in order to streamline the postdoctoral training required to develop both knowledge and practice competencies.

Since 2010, an academic partnership between the University of Bristol and North Bristol NHS Trust has delivered professionally accredited training in clinical neuropsychology. By partnering with a large and well-established clinical neuropsychology department within North Bristol NHS Trust, this programme provides both clinical expertise and academic excellence. Around 80 per cent of the taught content is delivered by practising clinicians, and you will learn about a range of adult neuropsychological disorders and pathologies, as well as focusing on principles of assessment, treatment and rehabilitation.

Alongside the adult knowledge competencies, this diploma supports your development of practical experience and competencies in clinical neuropsychology. Your clinical practice must be undertaken within your paid employment and you must secure appropriate supervision for your work when enrolled on the course. However, we offer additional support towards developing your case portfolio, and this includes feedback on two written case reports and a practice viva experience. This support is provided by clinicians with experience of conducting QiCN portfolio vivas.
