Course Description
Preserve, understand and protect our rich oceans. Gain the advanced theory and practical skills that are essential for working in the field of Marine Biology.
This degree aims to provide graduates with a broad understanding of the fundamental aspects of the biology of life as well as more specialised aspects such as fisheries, marine animal behaviour, conservation genetics and marine pollution. You will be taught a broad degree, exploring genetics, physiology, biodiversity and behaviour.
Graduates will be equipped with relevant and evidenced competency in the application of marine biology to practical settings, providing access to a wide range of employment opportunities or postgraduate level study.
Our staff have both national and international research, industry and consultancy experience, and are well connected to a number of marine biology organisations, working with them to develop extracurricular activities, such as beach cleans and volunteering for marine conservation projects.
The University is in close proximity to the Dee Estuary which comprises the marine areas of The Dee Estuary Special Protection Area (SPA) and Dee Estuary / Aber Dyfrdwy Special Area of Conservation (SAC) with internationally important wetland species.
