Course Description
Be at the forefront of new life as you learn the fundamentals to becoming a dynamic, compassionate and competent midwife.
Our Midwifery course is balanced between theory and practice placement experience. Fifty per cent is theory based, and in our state-of-the-art simulation suite, we utilise high-fidelity, computer- assisted simulation mannequins to facilitate universal, additional care and emergency scenarios. This offers simulated reality and learning in a safe environment.
The other half of the course is based in practice, where you will be exposed to the realism of midwifery practice-based care, in which you will endeavour to reach your potential to become the best midwife you can be. You will be fully supported during practice placements by midwives who are either practice supervisors or assessors, and your university academic assessor.
As a future midwife, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) expect you to provide high-quality, safe, evidenced-based care for women and their families. After completing this course, you will be able to register as a midwife on the NMC professional register.
Many of our graduates now work as advanced midwife practitioners and ward managers, or have roles in specialised areas.
