Course Description

Our BSc in Physical Education (PE) is a course that is aimed at students who are considering a future career in teaching PE. The course covers the relevant theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as providing you with the opportunity to gain experience of planning and delivering lessons.

Entry Requirements / Admissions

Qualification requirements

31-30 overall or 665-655 in 3 HL subjects.

Including a relevant subject/science @ C or above (80 UCAS tariff points)

Scottish Higher qualifications are considered on an individual basis

Access to HE Diploma

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

Including one in a relevant subject/science (90 UCAS tariff points)

Please note that the Welsh Baccalaureate and A Level General Studies will be recognised in our offer. We will also consider a combination of A Levels and BTECs/OCRs. GCSE English Language and Maths at grade C/4 or above are also required. Applications from applicants with a HND are welcome and will be considered for Level 5 or Year 2 entry. Furthermore, students will be expected to have worked with young people in some capacity in a PE/sports coaching environment. Leadership and/or coaching qualifications, as well as examples of actual coaching and leadership experience would also be desirable. Successful applicants will also be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service and a Declaration of Health form. Prior to admission to this course, you will be required to obtain a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check through the University, for which there will be charge. The cost of the disclosure is currently £55:00. Applicants are strongly advised to subscribe to the Disclosure Update Service, payable directly to the DBS and currently costing £13:00. London costs approx 34% more than average, mainly due to rent being 67% higher than average of other cities. For students staying in student halls, costs of water, gas, electricity, wifi are generally included in the rental. Students in smaller cities where accommodation is in walking/biking distance transport costs tend to be significantly smaller.

The University of Chester, as the name suggests, is a university located in Chester. The university is formally affiliated with the Christian faith, but they make it clear in their mission statement that students of all faiths or no faith at all are welcome at their university. Chester operates from a total of six campuses, five of which are in Chester, the other in Warrington, with the main campus building being known as Parkgate Road Campus.
